XCMG helps build the largest hydropower station in the world
Release Date: July 09, 2021

At 09:36 on June 28th, amid cheers at the scene, the first units of Baihetan Hydropower Station on the Jinsha River were officially put into operation for power generation, which also means that the largest hydropower station under construction in the world has finally ushered in a historic moment.

Baihetan Hydropower Station is located on the Jinsha River at the junction of Ningnan County, Sichuan Province and Qiaojia County, Yunnan Province. With a total investment of 220 billion yuan and a total installed capacity of 16 million kilowatts, Baihetan Hydropower Station has installed a total of 16 hydroelectric generating units with the world's largest unit capacity, one million kilowatts, which are independently developed by China. It is another landmark project after the three landmark project and another “national business card”, which means that China's hydropower construction is now leading the world.

According to reports, Baihetan Hydropower Station is a major national project to implement the “Power transmission from west to east” project. It is the largest and most technically difficult hydropower project under construction in the world today, and there are many problems in technology and management and “no man's land” to be undertaken.

It is reported that the gale weather above level 7 in the dam area of Baihetan Hydropower Station is up to 251 days, accounting for 70.5% of the whole year, which brought many challenges to the concrete pouring of the dam.

In the face of many difficulties, XCMG V7 series concrete pump vehicles meet the difficulties. Using the industry's original intelligent jib v2.0, skirt valve pumping, full hydraulic commutation and other leading “cool techs”, it can quickly adapt to all kinds of extreme pumping condition.

During the dam slope protection and pouring operation, several XCMG V7 series concrete pump trucks showed their outstanding equipment performance. Not only did it preformed full pipe discharge, but also its boom is as stable as a rock, realizing the accurate “centimeter-level” pouring at an extraordinary level, providing a solid guarantee for the timely delivery of the project.

It is estimated that all 16 units of Baihetan Hydropower Station will be put into operation in July 2022, with an average annual generating capacity of 62.443 billion kilowatt hours, which will be able to meet the annual electricity consumption of 500000 people.
