According to the overseas media, China announced on August 6 it has successfully tested the most sophisticated hypersonic aircraft that can carry nuclear warhead and penetrate into any new-generation anti-missile defense system. In a statement made by China Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics (CAAA), the Starry Sky II Rocket was launched in a rangeland in the northwestern part of China on August 3.
The announcement stated the Starry Sky II Rocket, after flying nearly ten minutes, made a few movements including powered-phase turn, fairing throw/stage separation, release and autonomous flight of the tested aircraft, and ballistic high maneuver turns, etc. before it hit the target zone by following the preset trajectory.
Quoting the announcement, the official media in China said the aircraft flew 30km high with the speed reaching 5.5-6 mach, claiming the hypersonic aircraft is jointly developed by CAAA and China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.

The military expert analyzed that, as quoted in the media report, wave-rider is the aircraft flying in the atmosphere and using the shock wave produced by the hypersonic flight to realize the high-speed gliding. It also stated the researchers have proved the parameters of the aircraft and the whole aircraft is reclaimed, marking the complete success of the Starry Sky II test flight known as the First Wave Rider in China.
The video clip reveals the installation of the Starry Sky II Rocket and its launcher was done by two XCMG cranes to ensure the high-quality success of the test flight.
As the leading crane manufacturer in China, XCMG has not only contributed its efforts to large engineering projects, but also to the space and national defense development in China.
