On August 8, XCMG Railway Equipment Co., Ltd. held the ceremony to celebrate shipping of its railway erection & hoisting units to Ethiopia, which will be used in Weldiya-Mekelle Railway Project contracted by CCCC First Highway Engineering Group Co., Ltd.

The 180-ton railway erection & hoisting unit is the large bridge construction unit developed and manufactured by XCMG for building railways of less than 200km per hour, which includes the bridge girder erection machine, girder transporting vehicle, etc. It can ensure the on-site inverted installation, transport and building. Featured by extensive adaptability, safe operation, high automation, stable start, braking and operations, it has won great praise from the clients.

Weldiya-Mekelle Railway is the northern section in Ethiopia Railway Line 5. As the economic and transport axis in central and northern Ethiopia, the WM Railway is 218km long, along which 20.62% are bridges and tunnels. It has 70 bridges totaling 32.868km. The project adopts the design and construction standard of China. Pillared on freight transport, it is the national-railway II single-line railway transporting both passengers and cargo, which has one principal station and three intermediate stations.

 

One railway line can initiate an era. From the Tanzania-Zambia Railway in the 1970s, to the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway, Nairobi-Marab Railway and Mombasa-Nairobi Railway, China is building the lifeline that runs across the continent of Africa, providing African people with a key to the future so that they can get into a new era featuring harmony and win-win situation, thus realizing the African Dream of poverty reduction and development.
