A vehicle can run steadily on city roads and cross-country roads, run fast on highways, and run on mountain roads with 300t load. To find such a vehicle with such strong performance, there is only XCA5000 of XCMG. XCA5000 is 4m tall, 3m wide and over 20m long. How does such a giant adapt to various road conditions safely, efficiently and comfortably? Now the editor will offer a detailed analysis of the intelligent driving technology of XCMG.
Intelligent driving technology
(1) Self-adaptive driving through monitoring on road condition and axle load
Realize automatic recognition of road condition, center of gravity of driving and axle load state, and change of self-adaptive drive mode based on different conditions of city roads, cross-country roads, highways and heavy-load transfer sites and vehicle characteristics.
Control drive and axle load balance of multi-axle heavy-loaded vehicles through dynamic monitoring on vehicle’s center of gravity of driving and axle load indexes, to ensure driving safety.
Dynamic Safety Monitoring on Center of Gravity and Axle Load
As to XCA5000, maximum single-axle load is 30t, maximum driving quality is 300t and maximum climbing gradient is 60%, and maximum driving speed is 90km/h. The self-adaptive driving technology through monitoring on road condition and axle load ensures that vehicles can easily respond to various extreme conditions and improves the safety factor of vehicles under different driving states.

(2) Driving assistance system
Traditional instrument panels of passenger vehicles can only show such common indexes as fuel consumption, speed, kilometer and rotary speed, and cannot analyze historical driving states of vehicles for evaluating the driver’s behaviors and guiding the driver to drive safely. Driving assistance system makes it a reality. With controller, driving assistance system can effectively record various indexes such as braking, steering, throttle, gear and suspension during driving, and display them visually through the driving assistant which can guide the driver to control such aspects as throttle, steering and braking, to ensure driving safety and economy.
Compared with family cars, construction cranes are a little heavier and raise higher requirements for drivers’ safe operation. Intelligent driving technology of XCMG ensures driving safety, reduces drivers’ operation difficulty to the maximum extent, and provides a safe and comfortable driving environment for drivers. There is a very big disparity compared with the most cutting-edge unmanned driving technology in the automobile industry. But XCMG has taken a solid first step.
