On July 27, 2015, the Embassy of Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the People’s Republic of China and China Top 500 Foreign Trade Enterprises Club jointly held the China-Pakistan Economic Cooperation Conference under the “One Belt, One Road” (“OBOR”) Initiative in the Pakistan Embassy, Beijing. The representatives from over 60 Chinese companies were present at the conference, and Ms. Zhang Yanmei, Deputy General Manager of XCMG Import and Export Co., Ltd., addressed the participants.
The government of Pakistan responds actively to China’s OBOR Initiative and has worked out a series of plans for China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Projects with harbors, energies, infrastructure (railway, roads, airlines and data connection) and industrial parks as the major parts and set up competent commissions and committees to promote the implementation of special projects. At present, some projects are well underway. In the meantime, the government of Pakistan has taken favorable security measures by positioning a total number of 10,000 armed policemen to protect China’s construction teams from the attacks of Taliban and unlawful activities of religious extremists and radicals, which demonstrates the confidence and determination of the government of Pakistan in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. With the smooth and successful progress of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, Pakistan will evolve into a new source of growth of construction machines.
