Recently, a twin-tower and dual-cable pre-stressed concrete cable-stayed bridge in Shandong was examined and opened to traffic. Building such a large bridge spanning the Yi River requires complicated technologies and advanced processes, and the mounting of cable support tower crane with operating height of more than 100 meters is really a huge project.
To cope with the challenge, the construction team employed from XCMG an all-terrain crane QAY500 with maximum hoisting capacity of 500 tons. Equipped with Benz electronic fuel injection engine, QAY500 boasts seven boom sections of 84 meters, fixed king-size jibs of 56 meters, luffing jibs of 91 meters and Y-shaped superlift structure, with torque up to 2800Nm. Also, this crane is equipped with the hoisting system of dynamic matching technology and the intelligent operation system, and its chassis belongs to all-bridge swerving, with minimum turning radius of 15 meters, so that the crane may turn around easily in such a confined construction site under the bridge.
Thanks to employment of those high-tech and precise equipments, the construction team successfully resolved the seemingly insurmountable engineering difficulties one by one. “I have long expected that the bridge would be opened to traffic as soon as possible. Seeing the progressive construction and busy yellow cranes every day, I realize that the bridge construction will be completed very soon, implying that I will save my commuting time by 60 minutes per day”, said Zhu Min, a citizen living near the Shuangyuehu of Luozhuang District and working at the economic and technological development area.
