On March 18, XCMG's heavy-duty truck manufacturing base in Xuzhou National High-tech Industrial Development Zone was immersed in a warm atmosphere. Phase 1 of Xuzhou Xugong Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (Xugong Automobile) went into production, with the brilliant appearance of the first "HANVAN" heavy-duty truck. This is of great significance to consolidating XCMG's lead in China's construction machinery industry, filling a gap in the high-end equipment sector, and promoting industrial transformation and upgrading.
In 2008, XCMG initially fulfilled its heavy-duty truck dream through strategic acquisition. In 2009, based on its existing product platforms and strategic objectives, with mature and steady strategic vision, XCMG intensified R & D, product upgrading, technical renovation and service parts system construction. So far, XCMG has developed 68 conventional national IV models powered by Weichai, SDEC and Cummins, and owned nearly 300 models of types such as medium-duty truck, heavy-duty truck and off-road tipper. All products of XCMG are up to China III, IV and V emission standards, and its exported products are up to European emission standards. Also, XCMG has developed LNG towing vehicles, LNG vehicle chassis, LNG mixer trucks and other environmental heavy-duty trucks. XCMG's products have covered construction fields such as urban construction, environmental sanitation, mining and special vehicle, and its tippers and concrete mixers have earned wide praise from the market and customers.
Through six years' efforts, XCMG achieved operating revenues of over 2 billion yuan from heavy-duty trucks in 2014, thus initially laying the groundwork for great development and drawing attention from the heavy-duty truck industry. From R & D and mass launch, XCMG's off-road heavy-duty tipper sector has ranked top in sales in the country within only one year. Also, it has maintained the industrial lead for two consecutive years.
With a floor area of 500,000 square meters and a total investment of 2.5 billion yuan, Phase 1 which has just gone into production will turn out 60,000 heavy-duty trucks and 80,000 cabs annually; Phase 2 will focus on developing core parts of vehicles and construction machinery, and strive to achieve sales of over 10 billion yuan in around three years. After being built up, XCMG's heavy-duty truck base will integrate and employ its superior resources to vigorously develop engineering vehicles, and promote the coordinated development of the construction machinery sector and the heavy-duty truck sector, thus driving the development of logistics vehicles and achieving the strategic objective of "great XCMG, great vehicle and great development".
On the occasion when the new base went into production and new products were launched, Xugong Automobile launched the "HANVAN" brand to comprehensively implement XCMG's "HANVAN" heavy-duty truck brand strategy and build XCMG's level-2 heavy-duty truck brand. As a safer, more reliable, economical and comfortable new-generation high-end heavy-duty truck, "HANVAN" heavy-duty truck was developed by XCMG automobile in three years. The company planned to build "HANVAN" into a domestic mainstream heavy-duty truck brand in three to five years.
"HANVAN" heavy-duty truck is up to advanced international standards in terms of modeling, ergonomics and refinement, and up to leading domestic standards in terms of environmental friendliness, reliability/durability, safety, maneuverability, kinetics, smoothness, function and configuration.
It is safer with active safety systems such as FCWS (Forward Collision Warning System), LDWS (Lane Departure Warning System) and TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System); the static steering lamps accomplish bend lighting to make night driving safer; the daytime running lamps improve driving safety in cloudy and rainy days; the ALS (Automatic Lighting System) boosts the safety of tunnel driving; with a unique optimized cage structure, the body conforms to the requirements of the ECE R29 regulations for head-on collision, side collision and roof crush. The integrated left and right doors have bumper bars and reinforced beams.
It is more reliable with parts and reliable electronic components from domestic mainstream parts suppliers; after undergoing multiple tests such as parts bench test, overall reliability bench test and intensified road test, it is up to advanced domestic standards in terms of reliability.
It is more economical. According to the characteristics of segmented operating conditions, it applies AVL Cruise technology in the development of the power transmission system and optimizes the design of aerodynamic components. Its drag coefficient is up to advanced domestic standards; it uses light key assembly components and CAE technology for topology design of key structural components, thereby reducing dead weight.
It is more comfortable. Interior colors, textures and devices are well designed and arranged based on ergonomics. The well-tuned chassis suspension system and the cab suspension system make it smoother than its peers; various control technologies and sound-proof devices make its noise level 4-5Db lower than its peers.

"HANVAN" heavy-duty truck launched at the very time is a new-generation product developed in three years on the basis of looking into ultimate customer demands. After its emergency, Xugong Automobile has formed a full-range lineup from low end to high end. It borrows the features of safety and reliability from European heavy-duty trucks, absorbs Japanese vehicles' advantage of light weight, and underwent various performance tests and reliability tests of nearly 2 million kilometers. It is close to advanced international standards in terms of safety, economy, smoothness and comfort.
