In the bitter winter, machinery noises were spreading out. On the morning of November 6, in the early snow, different state-of-the-art equipment for emergency rescue services was on display at the conference held in Beijing on construction of emergency rescue equipment for the transportation teams of the armed police force. As the first of its kind used in the armed police force, walking excavator ET111 developed by Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group Co., Ltd (XCMG), is an unmanned piece of equipment for emergency rescue operation for serving the police，standing there among the other machines to be examined and tested in the severe cold weather, demonstrating its comprehensive renewal of the emergency rescue performance in tough, highly dangerous and complicated conditions.
It is reported that XCMG once won a national second prize for Developments in Technology and first prize for Technological Advancement out of the competitors in the entire armed police force for the walking excavator ET111 it had developed. The product can work freely in areas of severe cold weather, high altitude, abrupt hill slopes, water net regions, marshes as well as in moderate work sites. Advanced both at home and abroad, walking excavator ET111 of XCMG carries out emergency rescue tasks in tough settings. It is quick in surmounting obstacles two meters high, climbing over an incline of 45 degrees, and operating by remote control. It has begun its service with the front-line teams.
In 2015, one of the key projects of XCMG’s “walking compound multi-function calamity rescue equipment range” in the “Research, Development and Application of Emergency Processing Robot” under a national program for high-tech research and development, a Project for Plan 863 in short, undertaken by XCMG, passed the technical acceptance inspection at the Jinan-based National Hi-tech Center for Research and Development under the Ministry of Science and Technology. Key products in the national Plan 863, the multifunctional rescue equipment developed by XCMG have won 12 patents, one of which was for invention and 11 for practicality and novelty. The patented items include the walking excavator and its traction system, the variable sliding block device for telescopic arm, and the turnover device to match the excavator scraper.
“Because of the tough conditions of the disaster-stricken area, rescue vehicles of the regular types have difficulty in a rapid movement to the site of destruction. The adoption of unmanned intelligent rescue equipment by the police teams will effectively and efficiently meet the demands of the rescue tasks caused by the quakes and aftershock. They are able to go through blocked roads, collapses, and the contaminated areas to reduce casualties,” Fu Ling, the commander of the police transportation team said.
It is reported that the Armed Police Transportation Force was grouped in 2009 into the rescue system of the country for emergencies, so as to become the “National Team” for defense and rescues. In recent years, this team has performed tasks of rescue at over 70 places such as Mozhugongka in Tibet, Lushan in Sichuan, Minxian and Zhangxian in Gansu, Ludian earthquakes in Yunnan, the great Shanyang landslides in Shaanxi, the explosion and fire disaster at Tianjin port, etc. The team also went to Nepal twice for rescue operations to make a smoother transportation.
